A Cultural Self-Mastery Journey into Adulthood
A fresh, honest and deeply personal self-mastery experience for young adults aged 19–25.
No boring lectures.
No pretending to have life figured out.
No adults telling you everything your generation is doing wrong.
Just good people, real conversations, culture, stories, reflection, laughter, food — and conversations around the fire that may stay with you for a very long time.
Why it Matter:
“We prepare young people for exams, university and careers. But how intentionally do we prepare them for adulthood?”
The programme is rooted in Gĩkũyũ cultural wisdom, storytelling, intergenerational dialogue and the natural environment of Kiambu - Evergreen & Mweiga - Sangare Gardens, while speaking directly to the realities of young adults today: identity, relationships, sexuality, money, social media, alcohol and substances, emotional wellbeing, work, AI, family expectations, purpose and the pressure of becoming independent.
KĨRĨRA GITŨ is not designed to recreate traditional initiation practices, moralise, or romanticise the past. It uses culture as a lens:
~ What wisdom do we want to carry forward
~ What must be questioned?
~ What patterns should end with us?
~ What does responsible adulthood look like now?
Many young adults have information but very few spaces where they can ask honest questions, hear lived wisdom and reflect without judgement. KĨRĨRA GITŨ restores that conversation between generations.
The Promise
i) Know Your Roots — understand your story, identity, inheritance and values.
ii) Master Yourself — understand your emotions, habits, relationships, boundaries and choices.
iii) Build Your Life — make intentional decisions about money, work, love, purpose, contribution and the future.
“We will not tell young adults what to think. We will help them learn how to think about their lives.”
THIS IS FOR YOU IF...
You are between 19 and 25 and you are:
~ trying to understand yourself better;
~ figuring out adulthood;
~ questioning what you want from life;
~ thinking about money, relationships, work or purpose;
~ feeling pressure to have everything figured out;
~ or simply wanting good conversations with people your age.
You do not need to arrive with answers...Come as you are.
Our Guiding Principles
~ Adulthood should not happen accidentally. Freedom, relationships, money and responsibility arrive quickly. The programme gives young adults a deliberate pause before life becomes louder.
~ Culture is a mirror, not a cage. Participants are invited to understand their roots, honour what is life-giving, question what is not, and decide what wisdom they want to carry forward.
~ Story before lecture. Lived experience, cases, questions, conversation, music, nature, reflection and bonfires are prioritised over long presentations.
~ Self-mastery over moral policing. The goal is not compliance. It is the capacity to make conscious choices, regulate oneself, accept consequences and act according to one’s values.
~ Two generations, one conversation. Elders speak, but they also listen. Gen Z teaches the elders about the world they are navigating. Wisdom moves both ways.
~ Reflection must become action. Every insight is linked to an experiment, habit, decision, accountability relationship or first step.
~ Progress, not perfection. The 21-day challenge is built around learning, resetting and continuing — not shame when a participant slips.
